Recently, the 10th International Conference on Collisions and Grounding of Ships and Offshore Structures (ICCGS 2025) was held in Shanghai. Co-organized by Wuhan University of Technology, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and the China Ship Science Research Center, the conference, themed "Development Trends of Collisions and Grounding of Ships and Offshore Structures", attracted over 130 experts and scholars from more than 10 countries. The event gathered nearly 60 high-level academic papers, representing the international cutting-edge research in the field of collision and grounding of ships and offshore structures.

Dr. Wang Gang, Chief Technical Expert of China Classification Society (CCS), was invited to deliver the keynote report titled "Technical Requirements for Collision and Grounding in Rules of Classification Societies and the Application" at the conference. With "Prevention-Damage Resistance-Survival" as the core logical framework, he elaborated in depth on the application and development of CCS rules in ship collision and grounding. The content covered key technical requirements including collision bulkheads, double-hull structure, local strength, and collision capability assessment, providing practical guidance for shipowners to better coordinate safety assurance, cost control, and operational efficiency. He also called on the industry to continuously track the latest developments in IMO, actively apply advanced technologies such as intelligent monitoring and new materials, and further enhance the environmental performance and safety standards of ships.

Dr. Wang Hui from Shanghai Rules and Research Institute of CCS made a special report entitled "Numerical Simulation of Collision of Type A Large Liquefied Gas Carriers" and presided over the relevant sub-session as an expert.

The International Conference on Ship and Offshore Engineering (ICCGS), held every three years, is a major international academic conference in the field of shipbuilding and offshore engineering. Since its inaugural meeting in San Francisco, USA in 1996, nine sessions have been successfully hosted across multiple countries. This year marks the first time it is being held in China.. The outstanding presentations by CCS experts not only enhanced the influence of CCS in the global ships and offshore engineering community, but also made significant contributions to advancing technological development and fostering academic exchanges in this field.
