The Two 175,000m3 LNG Carriers Surveyed by China Classification Society (CCS) Are Simultaneously Approaching the “Double Node”

On June 13, 2025, the No. 5 vessel of the 175,000m3 LNG carrier project of China Merchants Energy Shipping Co., Ltd.

On June 13, 2025, the No. 5 vessel of the 175,000m3 LNG carrier project of China Merchants Energy Shipping Co., Ltd. surveyed by China Classification Society (CCS) was successfully launched at Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. (“DSIC”), and Zhang Hui, General Manager of CCS Dalian Branch, attended the ceremony.

 


 

This ship is the second-generation large LNG carrier independently developed and designed by DSIC. With a total length of 299.7m, the ship has been significantly optimized in terms of fuel consumption indicators, ship operation safety, maintenance convenience, etc. On the same day, the No. 12 cargo hold parallel body of the 175,000m3 LNG carrier, which was surveyed by CCS, was successfully launched. This ship is the first ship of LNG carrier project constructed by DSIC for Wah Kwong Maritime Transport Holdings Limited, China Gas Holdings Limited, and China Shipbuilding Finance Leasing (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. It is also the first parallel hull project of DSIC to improve resource utilization and promote the dual-ship construction mode of LNG carriers.

In the construction process of subsequent LNG carrier project, CCS Dalian Branch will continue to closely cooperate with the shipowner and shipyard, closely follow the ship production schedule, provide high-quality and efficient survey services and technical support in all aspects, actively cooperate with the shipyard production schedule, compress the construction period of key systems, fully guarantee the orderly progress and high-quality delivery of the project, and actively facilitate and support the innovative development of China’s LNG transport industry and the green and safe development of the national energy industry.
