Recently, the subsea mixed pipeline from the Wenchang 14-3 platform to the Wenchang 9-7 platform, surveyed and certified by the China Classification Society (CCS), was officially put into operation. This marks the formal integration of the Wenchang 9-7 Oilfield into CNOOC Wenchang Operating Company’s production network, injecting new momentum into offshore oil and gas resource development in the South China Sea.
The Wenchang 9-7 Oilfield development project, with an average water depth of approximately 120 meters, involves the construction of a comprehensive offshore oil and gas drilling and production platform integrating functions such as production, oil and gas processing, and drilling maintenance. Upon commissioning, the Wenchang 9-7 Oilfield will serve as the light crude processing center and associated gas treatment hub for the Wenchang oilfield cluster.
Throughout the project, CCS Zhanjiang Branch engaged in proactive communication with stakeholders, including the project owner and management team, closely monitored progress, and implemented scientifically coordinated planning to provide comprehensive support during preparatory phases, construction inspections, and certification. Notably, CCS surveyors tackled technical challenges posed by innovative designs such as the intelligent oil and gas field system and the installation of a 5-megawatt offshore high-temperature flue gas waste heat recovery power generation unit. Their efforts ensured high-quality, efficient surveys, delivering robust safety and reliability guarantees for the offshore facilities.
