A “Super Energy Bowl” with “hardcore” and “beauty”--- “Haikui No.1” is Coming

According to a previous CCTV news report, the oil and gas processing capacity of this “super energy bowl” is about 5600t/day, and the oil processed every day can be simultaneously used by 900,000 cars, which makes it a true “super energy bowl”.

On April 26, 2024, the “CNOOC Liuhua super engineering cylindrical FPSO Brand Naming and Terminal Delivery Ceremony” was held at the Qingdao CNOOC Offshore Engineering Base. Fan Qiang, China Classification Society (CCS) Vice President, Zheng Nan, Deputy Director of the Headquarters Offshore Engineering Department and the Project Manager of this unit, Yu Huaiming, General Manager of Qingdao Branch, and Gao Xueting, Deputy General Manager of Qingdao Branch, were invited to attend the event. During the event, Vice President Fan Qiang had friendly exchanges with the owner, the EPCI(Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation), and Det Norske Veritas (DNV) representatives, and took photos with the employees from all parties involved in the construction of the CCS system.

The CNOOC Liuhua super engineering cylindrical FPSO is official named as “HAI YANG SHI YOU 122”, and it is announced to be also named “Haikui No. 1”.

Haikui No. 1” has a design service life of 30 years, and can withstand the super typhoon once in a century. It will be operated in Liuhua 11-1/4-1 Oilfield in the Pearl River  Mouth  in the South China Sea, with the operating water depth of 324m, the daily crude oil processing capacity of , and the maximum crude oil storage capacity of .

As the first cylindrical floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) unit in Asia, this facility was completely designed and built independently by China, and it adopts advanced technologies including the first domestic offshore dual tower desulfurization system design, the first domestic non-vane effect output system design, etc.Multiple technological breakthroughs has been achieved with the successful construction of this project.

During the project construction period, CCS project team has fully leveraged its technological advantages, reasonably allocated human resources, overcome many difficulties including strong technical complexity, high level of innovation, significant implementation challenges, etc., and conscientiously implemented the regulations, rules, and design requirements to guarantee the quality of project construction.

In the next step, “Haikui No.1” will be towed to the planned sea area for docking and installation with subsea production system, and is expected to commissioning  on August 31, 2024. This facility is classified as a Dual Class by CCS and DNV.
