At This Maritime Forum, China Classification Society (CCS) Provided Suggestions on Emission Reduction Measures and Energy-saving Technology for the Shipping Industry

Recently, CCS Wuhan Rules & Research Institute was invited to participate in the SMOU Maritime Forum 2024 held by the Singapore Maritime Officers’ Union (SMOU) in Beihai, Guangxi, and deliver speeches on the relevant issues at the Forum.

At this Forum, the opportunities and challenges for sustainable development of crew members in the current process of adopting green technology in the shipping industry were mainly discussed. About 300 representatives from the government, universities, maritime management agencies, shipping associations, maritime officers unions, crew management companies, shipping companies, etc. were invited to participate in this Forum. As the host of this year, Mr. Li Qingzhong, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese Seamen & Construction Workers’ Union, served as the guest of honor at the opening ceremony.

At this Forum, Zhu Wei, a representative of CCS Wuhan Rules & Research Institute, showed his views on the emission reduction measures and energy-saving technologies in the shipping industry, and the application and challenges faced by alternative fuels, as well as the maturity and prospects of technology. He also analyzed the challenges and countermeasures that crew members may face based on different green technologies for the shipping industry.
