Rules for cruise ships 2017

Based on the scientific research results achieved by China Classification Society over the recent years in relation to large passenger ships and medium-sized luxury cruise ships, the Rules for Cruise Ships (2017) are developed in terms of the functional needs of cruise ships and by identifying the technical points and difficulties of cruise ships, with due regard being paid to technical demands for cruise ships from the industry at present.
Main contents of the Rules for Cruise Ships include:
1. Applicability of Rules for Cruise Ships;
2. Assignment of class notations of Cruise, CEDI (Ox, Cx, Fx) and HEDI;
3. Requirements for Cruise class notation, including the requirements for hull structure, fire safety and other requirements;
4. Requirements for CEDI (Ox, Cx, Fx) class notation, including functional requirements, technical requirements and survey requirement;
5. Requirements for HEDI(x) class notation, including functional requirements, technical requirements and survey requirement.
Having considered that the equivalent and alternative design technology of cruise ships is being improved continuously, and passengers’ demands for leisure function of cruise ships are constantly changing, the Rules for Cruise Ships will be improved in line with the development of the technology of cruise ships globally. New research results will be included continuously while the existing technical requirements will be improved and refined.
Rules for Cruise Ships (2017) will enter into force on 1 January 2017.

The Rules contained in the annex are only for reference. The final version of the Rules will be released in the form of CCS formal publication.
