On April 23, the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Clean Energy Supply Chain Exchange Conference" hosted by the Hong Kong Shipowners Association, was held at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. The China Classification Society (CCS) Hong Kong Branch and Overseas Technology Center were invited to attend. The event gathered nearly 200 industry leaders from government agencies, shipping companies, port groups, classification societies, and financial institutions to discuss the impact of the latest MEPC 83 resolutions on the shipping industry and cutting-edge topics such as sustainable maritime development. Mr. Leung Chun ying, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), attended and delivered the opening speech.
During the thematic discussion session, Qin Aohan, Technical Manager of CCS Overseas Technology Center, served as the moderator of the ship electrification panel. He engaged in in-depth exchanges with industry experts on the development prospects, practical challenges, and policy recommendations for ship electrification in Hong Kong, while sharing CCS's technical insights and practical experience in this field.
Notable attendees included Ms. Mable Chan , Secretary for Transport and Logistics of Hong Kong; Professor Nancy Ip, President of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology; Mr. S.F Wong, Director of Marine Department of Hong Kong; Mr. Fan Qiang, General Manager of CCS Hong Kong Branch; and relevant leaders from Yantian District of Shenzhen.
