Recently, CCS Shanghai Rules & Research Institute issued the AIP certificate for the software system of the “Hull Monitoring System (HMS)”, “Hull Monitoring System for Ships Operating in Ice (HMSOI)”, and “Intelligent Hull System (IHS)” independently developed by COSCO Shanghai Ship and Shipping Research Institute Co., Ltd. Leaders including Cui Yuwei, Director of CCS Shanghai Rules & Research Institute, Wu Zhongdai, Deputy General Manager of Shanghai Ship And Shipping Research Institute, attended the certificate-awarding ceremony.
HMS can be used for real-time monitoring of the ship’s structural status, ship motion monitoring, fatigue strength assessment, yield strength assessment, etc., and provide early warning of risky stress, thus providing timely and effective decision-making information for crew members. HMSOI is integrated with ice zone hull structure monitoring, ice induced vibration, ice monitoring in navigation environment, ice zone safety assessment and warning, and assistant decision-making functions, which can provide technical support for the safety of ships navigating in ice. IHS has the functions of life cycle management of the hull structure as well as hull monitoring and assistant decision-making. The hull monitoring and intelligent hull systems are of great significance in improving the safety performance of ships, extending their service life, reducing operating costs and enhancing ship efficiency, etc.
Based on the technical requirements and related scientific research achievements of the “Rules for Classification of Sea-Going Steel Ships”, the “Rules for Intelligent Ships” and the “GuidelinesforHullMonitoringand AssistantDecision-makingSystem for Operations In Ice”, CCS Shanghai Rules & Research Institute has fully leveraged its technical advantages, closely cooperated with China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited, overcome the technical difficulties, and successfully completed the certification.
Leaders and experts from both sides exchanged views on industry hot issues including hull monitoring system, intelligent hulls, ship energy efficiency management, etc., and reached many consensuses. They unanimously expressed the need to strengthen cooperation, explore and innovate, to jointly support the development of domestic intelligent ship technology.
