1 This guideline is applicable to the inert gas systems on liquid cargo carriers of 20,000 tons deadweight and above and oil tankers on which crude oil is used to wash the cargo holds;
2 Inert gas systems may be classified into flue gas type, fuel oil type/fuel gas and nitrogen generator type depending on different sources of inert gas.
