Recently,
the 740-TEU all-electric open-top container vessel “Ningyuan
Dianpeng” was
successfully delivered. The ship was built by Jiangxi Jiangxin Shipbuilding
Co., Ltd. for Ningbo Ocean Shipping Co., Ltd. and surveyed by the China
Classification Society (CCS). This delivery marks another concrete step forward
in China’s push for green and intelligent shipping.

Green
Propulsion and Energy Efficiency
With
an overall length of 127.8 metres, the vessel adopts a dual-mode energy
replenishment system combining “charging and battery swapping.” It is equipped
with 10 container-type battery packs and high-voltage shore-power fast-charging equipment,
enabling zero-emission
operations while in port. An innovatively designed photovoltaic system converts
renewable solar energy into electricity, providing an additional energy source
and further enhancing overall energy efficiency. The propulsion system features
a redundant design, ensuring that effective propulsion can be maintained even
in the event of a single-point failure –
a critical safeguard for navigational safety.
Advanced
Intelligence and Autonomous Navigation
On
the intelligence front, the vessel integrates state-of-the-art systems including
an intelligent platform and an intelligent engine room, and possesses
autonomous navigation capabilities in open waters. It has obtained the CCS
intelligent ship class notation i-Ship (No. M.I). Through features such as
real-time 360-degree situational
awareness, all-weather
visual perception, route planning, unmanned operation, and autonomous collision
avoidance, the vessel can intelligently switch between different operating
modes. This achieves a seamless integration of green, efficient, and
intelligent performance.

Collaborative
Construction and Timely Delivery
During
construction, CCS fully drew on the experience gained from the sister vessel
“Ningyuan Diankun.” CCS played a pivotal coordinating role, providing reliable
solutions for the layout of photovoltaic panels, the testing of the battery
system, and the validation of autonomous navigation trials. These efforts
significantly shortened the construction cycle and laid a solid foundation for
the vessel’s on-schedule delivery, earning unanimous praise from both the
shipowner and the shipyard.
Looking
Ahead: Commitment to Green Shipping
Looking
forward, CCS will continue to stay closely focused on customer needs and
implement practical, effective measures to deliver even more efficient and high-quality survey and
technical services.
