Recently, China Classification Society (CCS) has achieved new progress in the development of service capabilities for new subsea pipelines.

Recently, China Classification Society (CCS) has achieved new progress in the development of service capabilities for new subsea pipelines. The CCS Offshore Engineering Technology Center issued the first domestic AIP certificate for LNG pipelines to China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Co., Ltd., supporting and guaranteeing China's offshore engineering industry to blaze a new trail in the safe and efficient transportation technology of LNG.

 


 

LNG serves as a clean, low-carbon, safe, and efficient transitional energy source with continuously growing market demand. Current LNG receiving terminals predominantly adopt the "terminal ship docking + pier pipeline transportation" approach, which faces challenges in shallow-water areas due to port navigation conditions and water depth limitations. CCS developed an innovative "offshore platform + subsea pipeline" solution for this project, addressing technical challenges in structural design, cryogenic performance, and process safety for long-distance LNG subsea pipeline transportation. Through compliance reviews and optimization recommendations, the center successfully completed certification procedures with high quality, earning client recognition for its professional expertise and service excellence.

 


 

Moving forward, CCS will continue collaborating with the industry to advance energy security and efficient transportation and utilization, drive the development and application of supporting technologies, and strengthen the security framework for building a new energy system.
