CCS Completed Survey for Retrofitting of Methanol Dual Fuel Engine to first operating vessel
On August 19, the
certificate-awarding ceremony for the project of retrofitting the first
operating ship’s main engine to a methanol dual fuel engine was held at CCS
Zhejiang Branch , a modified methanol dual fuel engine product certificate and
a marine engine air pollution prevention certificate first issued to the main
engine of “Lingxian 1” , a domestic vessel owned by Zheneng Mailing.
CCS, as the “main
force” and “national team” of ship survey, has been committed to deepening
cooperation with enterprises to promote high-quality development and green,
digital transformation and upgrading. As a result of climate change and increasingly
stringent emission legislation the shipping industry has started with a
transition to sustainable propulsion. Methanol is a viable fuel to reach this
goal, which has the advantage and safer over hydrogen, ammonia that it is a
liquid at atmospheric conditions. So it
becoming the attractive choice of new fuels in marine future. This
certification marks another important achievement of CCS in assisting the
localization of China’s green energy core equipment. It indicates that CCS has
taken a solid step forward in guaranteeing China’s green energy security. It is
also a successful example of CCS to work with the industry to implement the new
development concept, serve the construction of a new development pattern,
respond to energy conservation and emission reduction, and assist in the
implementation of China’s “dual carbon” goals, and promote the high-quality
development of the marine product manufacturing industry.
Since the project
was launched, CCS Zhejiang Branch and CCS Qingdao Branch have been deeply
involved in the front line of the project, actively assisted the clients in the
formulation and approval of the construction scheme, on-site survey and testing
of modification, as well as emission testing and other technical problems. They
have also coordinated and solved a series of technical problems in testing, and
successfully completed the conversion survey of methanol dual fuel engines.
Next, CCS will
continue to leverage its technological advantages and actively collaborate with
relevant enterprises to promote the recognition and survey of high-pressure
direct-injection diesel engines in methanol cylinders, and the retrofitting of
the operating ship diesel engine, empower and accelerate the development of new
productive forces, and assist in the green transformation and upgrading of
ships and marine equipment.
