The “XIN HAI XUN” Dredger Sailed for a Trial Trip!
According to CCTV
News, on July 17, the first large trailing suction dredger “XIN HAI XUN” in
China that uses LNG and diesel as dual fuel power system successfully sailed
from Qidong, Jiangsu Province.
As the first
independently-developed 10,000T large green energy trailing suction dredger in
China that adopts LNG dual fuel power system, “XIN HAI XUN” is suitable for the
waterway dredging and filling projects in the Yangtze River estuary area and
coastal ports in China, and also serves as a multifunctional trailing suction
dredger for coastal maintenance projects. This ship, 155.7m long, 32m wide,
13.5m wide, having the maximum cabin capacity of 17,000m3 and a design speed of
14.5 knots, adopts a streamlined hull with dual engines (one for two hybrid drive),
dual fuels (MDO and LNG), dual propellers, dual guide pipes, dual rakes, full
deck, bow tower, and twin-skeg stern. It is equipped with the most advanced and
intelligent “one-click dredging” and “dredging & driving integration”
systems in China. After completion, it will achieve the “unmanned dredging”
function under typical working conditions. Moreover, the ship has obtained the
CCS “Natural Gas Fuel, Dredging within R2, AUT-0, OMBO, DP-1” class notation.
The design concept of “XIN HAI XUN” is closely related to the national
strategic goal of “carbon peak and carbon neutrality” and the current
construction needs of green port waterways. In addition, the LNG power related
technologies have filled the gap in the application of clean energy power in
dredgers in China.
The CCS project
team has fully cooperated with the construction and production of the “XIN HAI
XUN” dredger, actively coordinated with relevant branches and departments
including drawing review and product survey within the system, and provided
solutions for such technical problems as on-site construction difficulties,
product certification, safe passage of engineering ships, etc. The project team
surveyors has been unanimously recognized by the shipyard and ship owner for
their professional competence and dedication.
It is reported
that the “XIN HAI XUN” dredger is expected to be officially delivered in
September this year. After delivery, it will be mainly used for dredging,
filling, and coastal maintenance projects in the coastal ports and deep-water
channels, and will inject new momentum into the development of green and clean
shipping in China.
