TIGER BINTULU

The 700FEU series LNG tank container carriers have an overall length 192.00 m, molded breadth 37.60 m, molded depth 13.50 m, and design shipping speed 16 knots. Its upper deck is designed for stowing approximately 700 LNG liquid cargo tanks and it’s mainly engaged in SE Asia and China routes.

This series of ships is highlighted by the dual-fuel design for its propulsion system. In addition to conventional fuel oil, LNG is also used as the power source to enhance the economic efficiency of ship operation. The difficulties in construction of this ship series lie in such links as the storage, conversion and transfer of LNG fuel. As LNG needs to be stored under extremely low temperature, higher standards are required for the materials and welding of the 9% nickel steel fuel tanks used for storing LNG. The core processes, such as dual-fuel switching, LNG handling and gas transfer as well as safety, also need high level requirements for the design, building, installation and survey of the main engine system.

The building process of the series of ships was affected by the pandemic for several times, and proposed a huge challenge for the schedule and quality of production, and the timelines and effectiveness of ship survey. Especially, both Jingjiang where the ship was built and Jiangyin where the CCS office was located were blocked one to two months before the delivery of "TIGER BINTULU" due to the pandemic, which imposed commuting difficulties on the marine surveyors executing survey tasks. To avoid affecting the ship production schedule and survey effectiveness, the surveyors of the New Yangzi Project Team in the Jiangyin Office of CCS Jiangsu Branch chose to stay in the shipyard offices to carry out the survey at any time. Following the resumption of work and production in June, it was a series of task requiring immediate fulfillment for TIGER BINTULU, including survey before delivery and final certification. Shouldering the dual pressure of shipyard building acceleration and final certification, the surveyors of New Yangzi Team kept working round the clock and spared no effort. They fulfilled the survey tasks with both quality and quantity guaranteed for the successful delivery of the vessel.

Now, 700FEU series LNG tank container deck carriers have all been completed perfectly. Let's also meet the previously completed "TIGERs"!
