On May 6, 2022, China Classification Society (CCS) Chongqing Branch issued a product certificate for the first domestic deepwater Christmas tree and its control system manufactured by Chongqing Qianwei Technologies Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Chongqing Qianwei).

This event marks the critical strides CCS has achieved in promoting domestically-produced core equipments of deepwater oil and gas production system in China's deepwater oil and gas fields, marks the solid progress it has made in ensuring China's energy security, and also marks the further improvement of its deepwater production system technologies and survey service capabilities．

CCS actively participated in subject research throughout Chongqing Qianwei's technological developments of deepwater Christmas tree and deepwater control system technology to help realize the application of the domestically-produced deepwater oil and gas production system core equipment in demonstration projects.

Since the launch of the project, the system technologies and survey advantages are comprehensively integrated under the unified command of the CCS Offshore Engineering Division, with roles clearly assigned and responsibilities fulfilled, to thoroughly guarantee the development of the project. CCS Offshore Engineering Division Technology Center provided technical support/product plan approval services, Chongqing Branch inspected the whole manufacturing process, and CCS Zhanjiang Branch offered offshore test witnessing services.

Amid the pandemic, CCS Offshore Engineering  Technology Center, in view of the technical difficulties and many R&D programs involved in the project, overcame difficulties from the tight time and the arduous tasks, and arranged for the technical personnel of the underwater oil and gas production system to work together to tackle the key problems and complete the plan approval at the soonest possible time. Chongqing Branch dispatched outstanding party member ship surveyors to establish a deepwater Christmas tree survey project team, which provided all-weather, uninterrupted, and whole-process survey services for more than two years, leaving footprints all over Jiangsu, Liaoning, Sichuan, Chongqing and other areas, and solved many technical problems for the client. Especially, during the May Day holiday this year, when the schedule for certificate issuing was extremely tight and the task onerous, the Branch promptly dispatched 4 competent key members from the product department to form a vanguard team, who worked overtime during the holiday to ensure the as-scheduled issuance of certificates. The high-quality and efficient services provided by CCS throughout the project have been fully acknowledged by CNOOC and Chongqing Qianwei.

Being fully engaged in the survey and technical services throughout this state-sponsored deepwater oil and gas production system demonstration project, CCS has acquired technical service and survey experience for the deepwater oil and gas production system core products, cultivated a team with whole-process survey service capabilities, strengthened the core & key equipment survey service capabilities for the deepwater oil and gas  production system, established an independent criteria system and a production equipment certification technical system, and laid a solid foundation for future comprehensive cooperation with relevant parties and further provision of high-quality services.
