On April 1, 2025, the "CSPC ARIES", an 85,000t series of new multi-purpose pulp carriers subject to the plan review and inspection by the China Classification Society (CCS), was successfully delivered.
“CSPC ARIES” was constructed by CSSC Chengxi Shipyard Co., Ltd. for CITIC Financial Leasing Co., Ltd., and the construction inspection was carried out by the Zhenjiang Office of CCS Jiangsu Branch. The 85,000t multi-purpose carrier is the “pioneer” among ships of the same type globally. The ship, 225m long, 36m wide, 21.05m deep, with an efficient speed of 15.5 knots, has demonstrated its outstanding performance. The ship’s compartment layout has been optimized to 8 cargo holds, making it an “all-round” vessel. It can not only transport traditional goods such as grains, ores, containers, etc., but also flexibly carry high-value-added goods such as pulp, new energy vehicles, large engineering equipment, etc., truly achieving the goal of “one ship with multiple purposes and global access”. The ship is environmentally friendly and meets the International Maritime Organization (IMO) NOx Tier III emission standards. Its Energy Efficiency Index (EEDI) is 50% lower than the baseline, far exceeding the requirements of Phase III . It has set a benchmark for global green shipping; the ship is intelligent and efficient, is equipped with an intelligent ship system, an upgraded cargo hold dehumidification system, and is added with dehumidifier cooling and temperature control functions.
During the construction process of the “CSPC ARIES” ship, the Zhenjiang Office of CCS Jiangsu Branch gave full play to its professional advantages, closely cooperated with the shipowner and shipyard, continuously optimized the survey process and mode, provided accurate and efficient survey service guarantees, promptly solved various problems in the construction process, and firmly established a quality defense line. With the full cooperation of all parties, this “maritime giant” has transformed from a brilliant blueprint into a stunning entity, and has been delivered with outstanding quality ahead of schedule, receiving praise from clients.
