On June 13, China Classification Society (CCS) issued a survey certificate for the 14100TEU container vessel “COSCO SHIPPING MEXICO” for COSCO Shipping Lines Co., Ltd., which marks that The CCS Serviced Fleet Exceeding 200,000,000 GT  .

Recall the past days, CCS has been striving for progress, gaining the trust and support of industry and customers, and has achieved another important milestone in the continuous high-quality of the serviced fleet development since it exceeded 100 million tons in 2016.

 CCS has made continuous improvement in its scale, technology, service, management, internationalization, etc. in 68 years of development. The period from 2016 to 2024 is critical for the rapid development of CCS fleet development and the simultaneous advancement of various ship types. Over the past 8 years, CCS has made breakthrough and basically achieved full coverage of mainstream ship types, including green, intelligent, river-sea, unmanned ships, large cruise ships, etc.

The “JIANG HAI ZHI DA 1” ship was successfully delivered in March 2018. It was designed and constructed in accordance with the CCS “Rule for the Construction of Specific Routes River-sea Ships” and the “Provisional Regulations for the Statutory Surveys of Specific Routes River-sea Ships”. It is the third type of ship that is completely different from traditional sea and river vessels.

The “COSCO SHIPPING UNIVERSE” ship was delivered on June 12, 2018. It was the world’s largest container vessel with the highest container capacity surveyed by CCS that year, and obtained the CCS green ship’s notation “Green Ship II”. At the same time, it has also been awarded the CCS LNG fuel ready’s notation “DFDR (H, m)” .

In September 2018, CCS completed the surveys and inspections on the transfer of Class of  “MAERSK HONG KONG”. After that, it also marked that the gross tonnage of CCS international classed ships exceeded 100 million.

The “COSCO SHIPPING PLANET” ship was delivered on September 6, 2019. It was the world’s largest container vessel with the highest container capacity surveyed by CCS that year. At this point, the CCS fleet has covered all classed levels of large container vessels with over 10,000 containers.

The “YUAN RUI YANG” ship was delivered on February 28, 2022. The delivery of this ship marks that CCS has made innovative breakthrough and leveraged its leading role in providing technical services for large-scale clean energy powered ships, as well as collaborating with the industry to promote the application of LNG as the main fuel on large crude oil tankers.

The “ZHU HAI YUN” ship was delivered on January 12, 2023. It has obtained the first certificate for intelligent ships surveyed  by CCS. It is the world’s first scientific research ship with the functions of remote control and autonomous navigation in open waters. CCS has closely followed the trend of green, intelligent, and digital development of ships, and it is the first in the world to launch the CCS “Rules for Intelligent Ships”, receiving widespread attention from the industry and laying a solid foundation for the development of ship intelligence in terms of rules, technology, and standards. 

The “Adora Magic City” ship was named on November 4, 2023. CCS has adopted a multi-party “parallel” cooperation mode and carried out technological research, successfully made breakthroughs on assessment technologies including structural strength of superstructure, ship stability and etc., of cruise ship, and formed the capability to review the drawings for large-scale cruise ships. In terms of construction survey, CCS has established a special cruise ship survey team to actively absorb new concepts and ideas through learning and training. 

In the future, CCS, based on the technological accumulation of this project, will intensify its R&D efforts on rules and standards, collaborate with the industry to accelerate the key core technology R&D of large cruise ships, and strive to improve the survey service capabilities of large cruise ships.

With the 200 million GT, this means that it is worldwide recognized  for CCS rule and standard, the superb technology and high-quality ship survey team, as well as the strong strength and unwavering confidence of CCS, and that  relays the struggle and selfless contribution of all generations of ship surveyors too.

The journey is long, only struggle makes the way. CCS will continue to forge ahead courageously to create even more brilliant achievements.
