On March 25, 2025, the Singapore International Maritime Exhibition was grandly opened at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre. With unprecedented scale, this exhibition has attracted nearly 200 industry-leading enterprises and over 20,000 industry professionals from more than 80 countries and regions. Zhao Yan, Vice President of China Classification Society (CCS), led a team to attend the exhibition with multiple latest technological achievements, becoming the focus of the exhibition.
At the exhibition, CCS highlighted its latest technological achievements in the field of ships, including green and low-carbon technology solutions, intelligent ship systems, digital innovation applications and other core areas. Through various forms including professional stands, technical presentation, and interactive demonstration, etc., CCS has comprehensively presented its outstanding achievements in ship safety technology, advanced survey and testing methods, industry data sharing platform construction, etc. to the international maritime community, fully demonstrating its technical strength and full lifecycle service capabilities.

On the first day of the exhibition, CCS stand was crowded with visitors. Senior officials including the Senior Minister of the Ministry of Transport of Singapore, representatives from the Maritime & Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), as well as guest representatives from globally renowned shipping companies, top shipbuilding groups, leading ship design companies, core equipment manufacturers, professional service organizations, visited the CCS stand successively. The CCS professional team demonstrated the latest technological achievements and cutting-edge service solutions to all guests through on-site demonstration, technical explanation, and in-depth exchange, receiving high attention and positive evaluation from industry colleagues.
Wonderful Moments of CCS Stand
CCS and the industry jointly held the unveiling ceremony of the “WINNING- CCS-SDARI Three-Party Innovation Studio” and released multiple green new technology ship types and products, including new ship types such as methanol, ammonia, LNG fuel bunkering vessels and lithium battery-powered ships, as well as new marine products including biodiesel, ammonia/diesel dual-fuel engines, ship intelligent monitoring systems, etc. In the R&D process of new ship types and products, CCS has deeply involved in technical solutions, safety assessment, performance optimization, reliability assurance, etc., and provided comprehensive support in the technical specifications and regulatory compliance of ships.
Unveiling Ceremony of WINNING-CCS-SDARI Three-party Innovation Studio
Sun Zhijun, Vice President of WINNING International Group, Xu Yiping, Vice President of Shanghai Merchant Ship Design & Research Institute (SDARI), and CCS Vice President Zhao Yan, jointly unveiled the plaque for the “Joint Innovation Studio for Shipping Technology”. Kenneth Lim, Deputy Director of MPA, and Sun Xiushun, Chairman of WINNING International Group, witnessed the unveiling ceremony.
The “Joint Innovation Studio for Shipping Technology” was jointly established by WINNING International Group, SDARI and CCS. The studio aims to address the most pressing challenges in the industry, promote decarbonization practice, ensure safe operation, and fully leverage the digital and intelligent technologies. It focuses on alternative fuel applications, advanced energy-saving equipment, and ship optimization design, and is committed to developing innovative solutions that can revolutionize the operation efficiency and sustainable development of the shipping industry.

★Marine Design & Research Institute of China (MARIC) ——Type Approval of 20,000m3 LNG Bunkering Vessel
Zhao Yan presented the ship type approval certificate to Zhu Jianzhang, Vice President of MARIC. The MARIC 20,000m3 LNG bunkering vessel can be used for LNG bunkering in major ports around the world. It can match different sizes of bunkering vessels on a larger scale, and is an intelligent and efficient LNG bunkering vessel characterized by large bunkering capacity, good matching, excellent maneuverability, high reliability, superior economy, and environmental-friendliness.
★Zhejiang Seahead Ship Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd. ——type approval of 14000DWT methanol bunkering vessel and 12000m3 ammonia bunkering vessel
Jiang Botao, Director of the International Business Operation Department at CCS Headquarters, awarded the type approval certificate for 14000DWT methanol bunkering vessel to Cai Huihua, Vice Chairman of Zhejiang Seahead Ship Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd. The 14000DWT methanol bunkering vessel is mainly used for bunkering marine fuel oil, diesel, biofuels, and methanol fuel. The main engine adopts a methanol-diesel dual fuel configuration, which can meet the Phase III requirements of EEDI for ships.
CCS issued a type approval certificate for 12,000m ammonia fuel bunkering vessel to Cai Huihua, Vice Chairman of Zhejiang Seahead Ship Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd. The 12,000m3 ammonia fuel bunkering vessel is mainly used for ammonia fuel bunkering of ships. The ship adopts four liquid ammonia diesel— dual-fuel generator sets to drive two propulsion motors, providing flexible, reliable, and safe ammonia fuel bunkering services for ammonia-fueled ships.
★General Energies Electrical Ship (Shanghai) Limited——type approval of coastal hybrid refrigerated container electric barge and 13m fully-electric driving vessel
CCS issued a type approval certificate for coastal hybrid refrigerated container electric barge to Feng Jie, General Manager of General Energies Electrical Ship (Shanghai) Limited. The ship is a battery-powered hybrid 108TEU refrigerated container barge with a total loading capacity of 36 refrigerated containers and 72 standard containers. The ship adopts a series hybrid propulsion system with two power sources of redundant lithium batteries and generator sets.
CCS issued a type approval certificate for the 13m fully-electric driving vessel to Feng Jie, General Manager of General Energies Electrical Ship (Shanghai) Limited. The ship is an aluminum alloy fully-electric pilot boat that can carry 12 passengers. To adapt to Singapore’s tropical climate, the battery power system adopts a liquid cooling system. The ship is equipped with an AC system, which can be quickly charged through a DC fast charging system or an AC 40 kW charging station. Its maximum speed can reach 16 knots, and it can last for about 5 hours at a speed of 8 knots.

★China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, 711 Research Institute——type approval of ammonia/diesel dual fuel engine
CCS issued a type approval certificate for ammonia/diesel dual fuel engines to Zhang Dongming, the marketing manager of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, 711 Research Institute. As a new generation of zero carbon emission marine engine, CS27DF-A was developed by SMDERI with the aim of achieving IMO’s “carbon neutrality” goal. The engine covers a power range of 1MW to 3MW, and the maximum energy proportion of ammonia fuel substitution rate can reach 85%
★Weichai Singapore PTE. Ltd.——type approval of Weichai WH25 B100, 170 B100 and WP2.3 B100 biodiesel engine
CCS awarded a type approval certificate for WH25 B100, 170 B100, and WP2.3 B100 biodiesel engines to Xue Hua, General Manager of Weichai Singapore PTE. Ltd.
WH25 B100 Engine
A medium speed engine suitable for B100 biodiesel, with a power range of 1320kW @ 750 RPM to 1800kW @ 1000 RPM. The typical application scenarios include tugboats, oil tankers, and bulk carriers.
170 B100 Engine
A medium speed engine fully suitable for B100 biodiesel, with a power range of 258kW @ 1000RPM to 735kW @ 1500RPM. The typical applications include tugboats, barges, and bulk carriers.
WP2.3 B100 Engine
A high-speed engine suitable for B100 biodiesel , with a power range of 27kW @ 1500 RPM to 36kW @ 1500 RPM, it can be used as 16kW, 20kW, 24kW, and 30kW marine generator sets.
★AquaSync Innovation——type approval of comprehensive measurement, monitoring alarm and control system
CCS issued a type approval certificate for the comprehensive measurement, monitoring alarm, and control system to Shen Lili, Chairman of AquaSync Innovation. The comprehensive measurement, monitoring alarm and control system includes a cabin monitoring and alarm system, valve remote control and liquid level telemetry system, and a liquid cargo monitoring system. It is the world’s first E27 network security type approval certificate (SL2 security level) issued by CCS, and supports real-time ship-shore communication.
The exciting events of CCS continued until the afternoon, and Zhao Yan attended the roundtable discussion on “The Future of Autonomous and Remote Ship Operation”. He expressed profound insights by mainly focusing on the current development status, safety supervision, rules and regulations, technical challenges, as well as the potential impact and future prospects of international rules after they come into effect, and provided suggestions for the development of autonomous and remote ship operations.
Zhao Yan signed a joint research agreement with Professor Zeng Yongshun, CEO of the TCOMS. Both parties will leverage their respective technological advantages in digital testing, risk assessment, etc. to carry out joint scientific research on evaluation, testing, and verification for autonomous vessels.
