Structural safety assessment of offshore installations

01/01.1970

Through visual inspection for underwater, above-water and topside structure of offshore installations, and using different inspection methods, such as detection/video, measurement of marine growth, thickness measurement, NDT of critical areas, anode survey, catholic protection potential measurement, seabed detection, CCS provides scientific and reasonable basis for safe service, repair and modification of offshore installations combined with special software of offshore structural and hydrodynamic analysis.        Based on the model established through safety assessments, CCS provides technical support services for owners during the whole service life of offshore installations. By tracking the service conditions of offshore installations and the results of regular surveys, CCS will update the calculation model in order to reflect the actual status of offshore installations timely. When the offshore installations need to be repaired, modified or suffer sea damage, CCS will determine what measures need to be taken to make repairs through a science-based decision-making process, that is rapid and will bring direct benefits to owners.1) Assessment object and contentAssessment of global strength, local strength, tubular joints punching shear strength, pile foundation bearing capacity, risk of crack and residual fatigue life of the fixed platforms under all conditions, including simple platform, jacket platform, tension leg platform, guyed tower platform and single point mooring platform.Assessment of global strength, local strength, hydrodynamic performance, risk of cracks and residual fatigue life of the mobile platforms under all conditions, as well as calculation and checking of intact stability, damage stability, anti-capsize stability, anti-sliding stability, descending and ascending stability of the platforms, including jack-up, submersible, column-stabilized and surface-type platforms.Assessment of global strength, local strength, hydrodynamic performance, risk of crack, residual fatigue life, as well as calculation and checking of intact stability, damage stability and load line of FPSOs under all conditions.Assessment of global strength, local strength and fatigue strength of subsea pipeline.Calculation of cable tension, cable length, fatigue strength, and anchor holding power of the mooring system in intact and damaged conditions.Assessment of global strength, local strength and fatigue failure of other offshore installations, such as ROV’s and deep-sea vehicles.2) Assessment software of offshore installations owned by CCSGeneral structure calculation software: ANSYS, NASTRANProfessional offshore installations structure calculation software: SACS, STRUCADEnvironmental load and stability calculation software: AQWA, STABCAD, NEPTUNESubsea pipeline and mooring system calculation software: PIPELINE, ZENMOOR, FLEXRISER, AQWA For more details, please contact us:Tel: 0086-22-65173619 E-mail: ot@ccs.org.cn

International Classification

01/01.1970

Classification is an important method for assessment of ship’s technical conditions, by means of whether the ship is classed and what grade the class is, directly influencing the ship’s freight and insurance (i.e. the trust level the cargo owner and insurance company have in the ship), and also affecting the ship’s purchase price or rent at the time of dealing or chartering. Comparing with non-classed ships, a classed ship has considerable advantages in ship transactions, shipping cargo collections and insurance rates. After years of development, CCS succeeds in keeping pace with the international counterparts in ship survey business, obtaining recognition and authorization from the administrations of more and more countries or regions to carry out statutory surveys and issue corresponding certificates on their behalf. The classification surveys provided by CCS and the assigned class symbols and notations have been recognized by the insurers both at home and abroad and the ships classed with CCS can enjoy the same preferential insurance treatment for the cargo carried.CCS owns a team of well-experienced exclusive surveyors with high educational level. CCS has set up branches/offices at major ports along China’s coast and the Yangtze River and in countries/regions in Asia, Europe, America, Africa, Oceania etc., shaping up a global service network.CCS carries out classification surveys and issues corresponding certificates strictly according to the quality system requirements to ensure that the entire service process is performed under controlled conditions and the survey quality is guaranteed. CCS has become one of the best member societies of IACS in terms of good PSC quality record of CCS-classed ships. With the rapid development of the shipping and shipbuilding industry, the CCS classification fleet has expanded. A number of very large, high-tech, and high-value-added ships (LNG, VLCC, VLOC, 21,000-TEU very large container ships, 210,000-dwt bulk carriers, 400,000-dwt ore carriers, etc.) have joined the CCS fleet, making it more international and modern. By the end of 2019, in terms of international voyage fleet, 4,200 ships were classed with a gross tonnage of 1.12 and an average age of 9.5 years.CCS accelerates the technology research on high value-added ships, and completes the direct calculation and standard formulation of large-scale thin-film LNG carriers, the research and development of ship types such as LNG dual-fuel bulk ore ships, LNG bunkering ships, LNG-powered large tankers, and oil-electric hybrid bulk ore ships, and on-board verification of the applicability of the rules for large luxury cruise ships. CCS makes greater efforts to develop service products and provide customers with precise services. Also, CCS carries out structural optimization and energy efficiency upgrades for large ore carriers, bulk carriers, and product oil tankers, and provides ship emergency response services and ship condition assessment procedures (CAP). CCS has promulgated the “Guidelines for Ship Remote Surveys”, to promote remote survey technology, provide customers with efficient and flexible survey services, and effectively respond to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic on the classification business.   (20,000-TEU very large container ships “COSCO SHIPPING SCORPIO”)   (308,000-dwt oil tanker “XIN HAI YUAN”)   (62,000-dwt multi-purpose pulp carrier “COSCO SHIPPING EXCELLENCE”)   CCS is committed to providing excellent services to all circles in the field of ship classification. Class transfer and initial classification surveys

01/01.1970

The class transfer survey of a ship in service refers to the inspection on compliance of a ship with an IACS class that has already been in service and applies for transfer to the CCS class, before the CCS class is assigned and the classification certificate is issued, in order to confirm that the documents, design of structure and equipment, configuration and technical status, and management conform to the CCS classification specifications, rules and other technical requirements recognized by CCS.The initial classification survey of a ship in service refers to the inspection on compliance of a ship without an IACS class that has already been in service and applies for the CCS class, before the CCS class is assigned and the classification certificate is issued, in order to confirm that the documents, design of structure and equipment, configuration and technical status, and management conform to the CCS classification specifications, rules and other technical requirements recognized by CCS. CCS will consider arranging pre-classification inspection and drawing approval for ships based on the actual technical status of the ship and the situation of the existing classification society. When transfer of class and initial classification are applied for, they can be carried out in conjunction with the normal survey cycle of the ship. It is recommended that the customer contact CCS in advance. CCS will fully consider the ship schedule and voyage plan to give advice to the ship owner/management company, so that the survey is conducted at a more suitable time, port or shipyard.
