Recently,
China Classification Society (CCS) has awarded the Shanghai Marine Diesel
Engine Research Institute (SMDERI) two key certificates: the type approval
certificate for China’s first all?scenario high?pressure direct?injection
methanol single?fuel medium?speed marine engine, and the CN-2 emission approval
certificate for marine engines.
The
issuance of these two certificates marks the completion of international and
domestic comprehensive and multi-scenario compliance verification for China’s
independently developed high-end methanol marine power equipment, significantly
accelerating the marketization and practical application process of this type
of equipment, and effectively promoting the high-end upgrade of China’s ship
green power industry.

Certification
Ceremony and Industry Collaboration
The
certificates were presented at a ceremony attended by Mr. Wang Feng (Director
of SMDERI), Mr. Qiu Aihua (Deputy Director of SMDERI), Mr. Yang Zheng (General
Manager of CCS Shanghai Branch), Mr. Pan Zhongbing (Deputy General Manager of
CCS Shanghai Branch), along with department heads and technical experts from
both sides. The event also served as a platform for in?depth discussions on
green propulsion innovation, product certification, and industrial chain
synergies.

Voices from the
Partners
Mr.
Wang Feng expressed gratitude for CCS’s longstanding professional technical
support, noting that the two parties have achieved deep collaboration in green
engines, energy?efficiency equipment, and carbon capture systems – delivering
multiple landmark industry outcomes. He stated that SMDERI will continue to
focus on core low?carbon propulsion technologies and, leveraging CCS’s
authoritative certification platform, accelerate the industrialisation of
methanol?only and ammonia?fueled propulsion equipment.
Mr.
Yang Zheng congratulated SMDERI on its breakthrough and reaffirmed CCS’s
commitment to leveraging its full?chain technical capabilities in rule?making
and product certification, establishing a regular collaboration mechanism with
SMDERI, and jointly tackling key technical challenges in alternative?fuel
systems and LNG?related products.
