On October 8, the Hong Kong Chamber of Shipping held its first anniversary event at HKEX Connect Hall. As a founding member unit of the association, China Classification Society (CCS) Hong Kong Branch was invited to attend the event.

The event brought together over a hundred industry representatives from government agencies, shipping companies, port groups, classification societies, law firms, and financial institutions. Participants jointly witnessed the development achievements of the Hong Kong Chamber of Shipping in its first year and discussed future directions for the shipping industry. Liang Zhenying, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and Chen Meibao, Secretary for Transport and Logistics of the Hong Kong SAR Government, attended the event and delivered speeches. Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee also addressed the gathering via video link, demonstrating strong support for the industry's growth. Attendees included Qi Bin, Deputy Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Hong Kong; Li Yongsheng, Deputy Commissioner of the Chinese Government's Office in Hong Kong SAR; and Wang Yongxin, General Manager of China Merchants Energy & Shipping Co., Ltd.

 

During the panel discussion, Fan Qiang, General Manager of CCS Hong Kong Branch, participated as a panelists. He shared the latest technological achievements and practical experiences of CCS in green fuel vessel applications, including liquefied natural gas (LNG), methanol, and battery-powered ships. Fan emphasized that Hong Kong, as an international city and a super connector between mainland China and the global community, possesses unique advantages. CCS Hong Kong Branch will continue to actively integrate into the city's development framework, deepen collaboration with all sectors of the shipping industry, and jointly contribute to enhancing Hong Kong's status as an international shipping hub.
