September 26, the 13th China Oil Transportation Safety Forum (COTSF 2025), jointly organized by China Classification Society(CCS)and Shandong Shipping Corporation Tanker Co., Ltd.(SDTK) with support from CNOOC, was held in Qingdao,China. Themed "Fortifying Safe Transport,Pioneering Green Shipping", the forum brought together representatives from over 100 organizations including Chinese government authorities, domestic and international oil companies, oil tanker owners, liquid cargo terminals, petroleum companies, international industry organizations, as well as ship design institutes, shipyards/shipyards, marine equipment manufacturers, and maritime academies. Participants gathered to discuss strategies for advancing oil transportation safety and offered recommendations for the industry's sustainable development.
Meng Qingbin, Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Chairman of the Qingdao Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference in Shandong Province; Chen Deli, Deputy Director General of China MSA; Gao Changfeng, Deputy General Manager of Shandong Ocean Group Co., Ltd.; Shan Hongjun, President of Dalian Maritime University; and Zhao Yan, President of China Classification Society attended the forum and delivered speeches.
Zhao Yan first extended a sincere welcome on behalf of China Classification Society to the attendees. Subsequently, he elaborated on the current global energy landscape and challenges. He noted that the profound evolution of the global energy framework and the accelerated green transition have raised higher requirements for China's oil transportation security while endowing it with richer "green" connotations. In response to the evolving global energy landscape and green transformation trends, China Classification Society has consistently upheld its commitment to safety and environmental protection, refined technical standards, promoted scientific research innovation and international cooperation, dedicated itself to enhancing China's oil transportation security capabilities, and facilitated the green and high-quality development of the shipping industry.
In the future, China Classification Society will continue to serve as a "leader" and "service provider" in promoting high-quality development of the shipping industry, maintaining its focus on oil and gas transportation safety and green shipping. He also mentioned that to enhance the supply of high-end shipping inspection services, China Classification Society has established a new international ship inspection business operation team and set it up in Shanghai.
Finally, he expressed confidence that under the impetus of this forum and through the joint efforts of all colleagues, China's oil and gas transportation safety system will become more robust. This will provide solid and powerful service support to enhance the resilience and security of industrial and supply chains, ensuring the stable operation of the national economy.
Subsequently, a number of guests delivered keynote speeches on the latest industry trends, best practices for oil transportation safety, and empowering new quality productivity in shipping.
The successful hosting of the forum has not only established a premier platform for high-level dialogue and collaborative exchanges within the industry, but also injected robust momentum into the green and sustainable development of the global oil transportation sector.
