GUIDELINES FOR DESIGN AND INSTALLATION OF EXHAUST GAS CLEANING SYSTEMS 2025

A new united requirement URM 86 is approved by International Association of Classification Societies (IACS), which specify safety requirements of EGCS exhaust gas bypass，control and monitoring system, safety shutdown system, and monitored parameters. These new requirements are adopted in 《Guidelines for Design and Installation of Exhaust Gas Cleaning System》(2025). Main contents of revisions are as follows:

(1) revising exhaust gas bypass requirements.

(2) adding washwater discharge criteria monitored requirements.

(3) revising EGCS control system requirements .

(4) revising EGCS safety shutdown system requirements.

(5) revising EGCS monitored parameters requirements.

《Guidelines for Design and Installation of Exhaust Gas Cleaning System》(2025) will take effect on 1 January 2026. 《Guidelines for Design and Installation of Exhaust Gas Cleaning System》(2024) will be superseded when these 2025 Guidelines take effect.
