Known as a barometer of the technological development trends of international maritime industry, Marintec China 2023 was held offline in Shanghai from 5th to 8th December after an interval of 4 years. On December 5th, Marintec China 2023 was grandly opened at Shanghai New International Expo Centre. Sun Feng, President of China Classification Society (CCS), attended the exhibition with his delegation.

On the third day of the exhibition, China Classification Society (CCS) signed strategic cooperation agreements with clients.

CCS Signed a Strategic Cooperation Framework Agreement with Accelleron

Today, CCS signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Accelleron Industries (referred to as “Accelleron”). CCS, Accelleron China, and CSSC Power (Group) Corporation Ltd. (referred to as “CPGC”) jointly signed the cooperation intention. At the signing ceremony, CCS also issued the ship and offshore engineering industry block chain data sharing alliance certificate (i.e. CSBC Data Sharing Alliance Certificate) and the proof of energy efficiency data exchange adaptation to Accelleron.

As a century-old leader in high-power internal combustion engine turbocharging technology, Accelleron is committed to providing efficient, reliable, green and sustainable power solutions for the global shipping industry. According to the strategic cooperation agreement, CCS and Accelleron will establish a long-term cooperative relationship in products R&D, products inspection, condition-based maintenance of marine equipment, development of green fuels for marine power, upgrading and renovation of existing marine methanol and ammonia fueled engines, and other energy efficiency improvement solutions, application of solid-state fuel cells and 3D printing technology in ships, as well as in ship digitization, etc.

The strategic cooperation between CCS and Accelleron is an alliance between giants in the context of green and low-carbon transformation in the shipping industry. We hope that this strategic cooperation will further promote the green and low-carbon transformation of China’s shipping industry, and make positive contributions to addressing global carbon emission challenges.

Under the witness of CCS President Sun Feng and Accelleron CEO Daniel Bischofberger, CCS issued the CSBC data sharing alliance certificate to Accelleron. Accelleron system can transmit ship energy efficiency data to CCS ship green ecological comprehensive management system through the CSBC data sharing chain. In addition, CCS also issued the proof of energy efficiency data adaptation to Accelleron.

At the end of the ceremony, CCS, Accelleron China, and CPGC signed a tripartite cooperation agreement on the renovation of existing methanol and ammonia fueled engines and the upgrading of traditional fuel engines to improve ship energy efficiency. This MOU signing has brought the cooperation between all parties to a new level. CCS, Accelleron and CPGC will work together to make unremitting efforts for the green and sustainable development and technological innovation of the shipbuilding industry.

Joint Unveiling Ceremony of the “Far East Winterization Laboratory”

At the “International Engineering Technology Forum on Aerospace, Aviation and Navigation --- Polar Engineering Equipment Technology Sub-forum”, Mr. Lu Lin, Director of the 708th Research Institute of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, and Mr. Zhao Yan, CCS Vice President, jointly unveiled the nameplate for the Far East Winterization Laboratory under the witness of attending experts.

Later, Mr.Hang Zhongjiu, Deputy General Manager of CCS Jiangsu Branch, issued the first AIP cold-proof certificate verified by the Far East Winterization Laboratory to Shanghai Haixun Electromechanical Engineering Co., Ltd.

The Far East Winterization Laboratory, jointly built by CCS and the 708th Research Institute of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, is the first experimental system in China that can simulate polar environments as low as -70 ℃. It provides important experimental conditions for breakthroughs and industrial applications of key technologies including adapting equipment to polar environment, low-temperature performance testing and verification, cold-proof design, etc. in China.

CCS Attended EU-China Dialogue on Green Maritime Development and Cooperation

At the “EU-China Dialogue on Green Maritime Development and Cooperation”, Mr.Luo Xiaofeng, Deputy Director of CCS Science & Technology Working Committee, delivered a speech “Application and Development of Green Technology in Ships”, introducing the changes in international and domestic policies, the current status of green technology application in ships, as well as current challenges and CCS solutions.
