release time:2023-04-07 15:04

Recently, the third 174,000m3 large liquefied natural gas (LNG) transport ship project “Kunlun” was officially named and delivered at the Changxing Island No. 0 Base in Shanghai.

Recently, the third 174,000m3 large liquefied natural gas (LNG) transport ship project “Kunlun” was officially named and delivered at the Changxing Island No. 0 Base in Shanghai. It was constructed by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd. for COSCO Shipping CNPC State LNG transportation project. and was drawing-reviewed and surveyed by China Classification Society (CCS). The Deputy General Manager of CCS Shanghai Branch was solemnly invited to attend the ceremony. The Deputy General Manager Zhuang Zhong of CCS Shanghai Branch was invited to attend the ceremony.

“Kunlun”, as the fourth generation “Changxing” series LNG ship of Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd., has a total length of 29m, a molded width of 45m, and a molded depth of 26.25m, and is classified as a CCS ship.

With mature manufacturing technology of membrane cargo tank, and the latest generation of dual-fuel low-speed propulsion power system in the world, the ship is designed and equipped with advanced environmental protection devices. It can meet the strictest emission standards of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) when operating in gas and fuel modes. It is also equipped with highly integrated automated cargo control and driving control, engine room control systems, and has been awarded the green ship environmental protection and additional signs for unmanned engine rooms.

At the design and drawing approval phase of the 174,000m3 COSCO Shipping CNPC state LNG Carrier, Shanghai Rules & Research Institute has not only completed the verification of hull girder longitudinal strength and hull descriptive requirements, cargo hold direct calculation of yielding and buckling strength assessment, and fatigue strength assessment, but also carried out advanced analysis and assessment including global ship analysis , fatigue spectrum analysis, and pump tower vibration assessment, further accumulating experience in drawing approval of large liquefied gas carriers, providing valuable suggestions for the design optimization of the project, and laying a solid foundation for the subsequent construction of the project.

After the “Kunlun” ship is put into operation, it will form a LNG maritime transportation matrix in China together with “Shaolin” and “Wudang” ships delivered last year, so as to inject new momentum into further enhancing China’s LNG fleet capacity and achieving the security of China’s LNG energy industry chain and supply chain.

Technical highlights of the 174,000 m3 large liquefied natural gas (LNG) transport ship project:

The new generation NO.96 L03+ cargo system is adopted, which is featured with low Daily Boil-off Rate and good route adaptability.

XDF dual-fuel propulsion system is adopted, which has a configuration higher than international mainstream, and is featured with low energy consumption and strong reliability.

Both the main engine and the generator are equipped with the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) device to fully meet the world’s strictest environmental requirements.

Strong ship shore compatibility for good docking with the Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) and good global universality.

It can meet the rules and regulations by 2025, and the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) reached the third stage in advance, with good foresight and strong market vitality.

An energy-saving cargo handling system design for low comprehensive energy consumption and excellent economy.
