On May 20, 2022, Jiangsu Branch of China Classification Society (CCS) completed the survey of the intelligent energy efficiency management system for “CHANG JIANG SAN XIA 1”, the electric new-energy cruise ship developed and manufactured independently by China, and signed and issued the Certificate of Intelligent Products. This is a demonstrative application of CCS Rules for Intelligent Ships in the field of the pure battery-poweredships, and effectively advances the intelligent development of China’s large the pure battery-powered ships, which is significant for realizing the green and intelligent development of inland navigation.

CHANG JIANG SAN XIA 1 was a pure  battery-powered ship with the largest battery capacity in the world. Both its plan approval and building survey were implemented by CCS. It is one of the MIIT (Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the PRC) Demonstration Projects in Hi-tech Ship Research as well as one of the MOT (the Ministry of Transport of the People’s Republic of China) Pilot Projects for Building China with Strong Transportation Network. The engineering application research on its marine battery power system has gained approval and support from the MIIT.

Interface of Intelligent Energy Efficiency Management System

The intelligent energy efficiency management system installed in the ship will assess its energy efficiency condition, navigation status and other aspects based on the monitoring data and information about ships’ navigation status and energy consumption status, so as to realize the real-time monitoring and assessment of ships’ energy efficiency. It has effectively improved the intelligence level of ships.

On the basis of the pure battery-powered ships’ characteristics, CCS Jiangsu Branch kept deep communication and discussion with themanufacturer, focusing on the requirements of the calculation, assessment and other aspects of parameter monitoring, the pure battery-powered ships’ energy efficiency and energy consumption for the main energy-consuming equipment of the intelligent energy efficiency management system. CCSalso shared the technical superiority and experience that are accumulated by CCS from intelligent ship product approval and survey, further optimizing product functions and enhancing the application of intelligent products on the pure battery-powered ships.
