Recently, the annual meeting of the Mediterranean Technical Advisory Committee of China Classification Society (CCS) was successfully held in Piraeus, Greece. Nearly 30 representatives from shipping, maritime, shipbuilding companies, research institutions, etc. in Greece attended the conference.

Mr. Antonios Stamos Faraklas, Chairman of the Committee and Managing Director of Chartworld Group, presided over the meeting and delivered a speech. He expressed sincere gratitude to CCS for its contributions in promoting cooperation and development in the shipping industry between China and Greece, and expected that CCS would continue to deepen technical cooperation with all parties. 

Mr. Yue Mengqiang, Deputy General Manager of CCS Dalian Branch, delivered the annual technical development report of CCS at the meeting, systematically introducing the latest progress of CCS in technological innovation, standards formulation, energy-saving and emission reduction cases, digital solutions, etc. Mr. Li Weina, Deputy General Manager of COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry (Shanghai) Co.,Ltd., shared the case of ship alternative fuel retrofitting to showcase the latest practices of China’s industry in responding to the green transformation of shipping. 

 

During the discussion session, the attending representatives had in-depth exchanges with CCS experts on hot issues including cyber security, greenhouse gas emissions reduction in shipping, shipyard capacity’s expansion, sustainable development of shipbuilding technology quality, etc. At the scene, the representatives exchanged views and suggestions based on the professional perspectives of their respective fields. 

 


 

The convening of this meeting has not only deepened the technical exchange and cooperation between CCS and local clients, but also created favorable conditions for both sides to further strengthen regional cooperation. CCS is willing to work together with the local shipping industry to promote sustainable development of shipping technology.
