CCS issued the AiP certificate to an 80,000 gross tonnage cruise ship independently developed by CSSC!
On 25th of November, at the Wusongkou Forum, China
Classification Society (CCS) issued an Approval in Principle (AIP) certificate
to an 80,000 gross tonnage cruise ship independently developed and designed by
China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC).
This ship has a total length of 293.5 metres and a
width of 34 metres. In order to reduce the resistance and enhance energy
efficiency, CSSC improved the design by optimizing the wind field and
hydrodynamic performance of the superstructure and installing energy-saving
devices. Its EEDI meets the requirements of Phase Ⅲ. The technical indicators
of this ship such as sailing speed and load capacity can compare with the most
advanced similar international mainstream ship types. Moreover, by considering
the passenger space ratio in public area on board the ship which shows high
density of people and risks of airborne transmission of pandemic, CSSC has
refined the cabin planning and air-conditioning systems in order to meet the
EPC3 standards given in CCS’ Safety
Guidelines for Ship Epidemic Prevention.
This 80,000 gross tonnage cruise ship is an
important milestone for CSSC showing its ability of applying key technologies
in the overall design of cruise ships. It is a fruit of close cooperation
between CCS and CSSC, indicating that the Chinese shipbuilding industry will
take more initiative in the development of domestic large cruise ship projects,
and is of great significance in promoting the independent and controllable
R&D of Chinese cruise ships and the construction of the cruise industry
supply chain.
