To actively support the International Maritime Organization (IMO) 's green development initiative, assist shipping companies in their greenhouse gas reduction efforts, and enhance client vessels' performance during Port State Control (PSC) inspections, China Classification Society (CCS) Dubai Branch organized a specialized training session titled "Strategic Planning for Emission Reduction in Shipping Enterprises and Key PSC Inspection Focus Areas" on July 17,2025. Representatives from shipowners and management companies in the UAE and neighboring regions participated through a hybrid online-offline format
This training program, aligned with the IMO's latest Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Pathway (MEPC 83) and integrated with CCS's "Strategic Emission Reduction Planning for Shipping Enterprises" service product, featured systematic presentations by Ni Lei, Quality Manager of Dubai Branch, and Lu Wei, Inspection Manager. They systematically explained key green technology requirements including ship energy efficiency enhancement, new energy adoption, and technological innovation applications. The content covered emission reduction pathway development, fleet technical retrofitting plans, and energy management optimization measures. Furthermore, they provided in-depth interpretations of implementation essentials under MEPC 83's "Net Zero Emissions" framework, delivering actionable technical support and strategic references for clients within the jurisdiction。
During the PSC thematic session, Mr.Lu Wei focused on China's PSC inspection policies. He systematically analyzed the ship selection mechanism, key inspection items, common defect types and countermeasures for PSC inspections in China. He also shared practical tools such as pre-port self-inspection checklists for PSC, helping clients identify and avoid risks in advance, thereby further strengthening the PSC performance of vessels under jurisdiction.
In the future, the Dubai Branch will continue to rely on technical resources and local service advantages, and continuously strengthen regulatory publicity and technical services for customers, so as to help shipping enterprises achieve green, low-carbon, compliant and efficient development, and continuously improve the PSC performance of the fleet under its jurisdiction.
