On July 20, the world's first 80,000-ton Fishery Aquaculture Ship "Senhai Pioneer" was delivered in Qinhuangdao, Hebei Province. Certified by China Classification Society (CCS), this milestone achievement marks a breakthrough for China in developing intelligent and large-scale deep-sea farming equipment.

Liao Nanxiang, Party Secretary of CCS Qinhuangdao Branch, attended the naming and delivery ceremony at the invitation.

The "Senhai Pioneer", a 224.9-meter-long vessel converted from a Panamax bulk carrier, stands as the world's first aquaculture vessel with side-opening compartments and a sea-through fish hold. Equipped with autonomous international navigation capabilities, it can withstand seasonal sea conditions and supports multiple functions including fish farming, feed processing, and live fish transportation. This innovative vessel breaks conventional ship design concepts, representing a groundbreaking exploration of deep-sea aquaculture models worldwide.

As the plan review and conversion survey unit for this project, China Classification Society (CCS)   deeply involved in the preliminary feasibility studies and on-site survey work. We pioneered international technical standards for Fishery Aquaculture Ship and contributed to national regulations, providing essential technical support for project advancement. The Shanghai Rules& Research Institute established a plan review team under its experienced aquaculture engineering division to oversee ship evaluation. Throughout implementation, the review proactively took charge, innovated solutions, refined assessment methodologies, and developed localized technical breakthroughs. By systematically addressing critical challenges including vessel seaworthiness stability, structural strength, mooring systems, and dynamic stability, we successfully ensured the project's successful implementation.

During the on-site conversion process, CCS Qinhuangdao Branch prioritized project advancement by coordinating technical discussions among stakeholders regarding site modifications and inspections. The on-site survey team demonstrated professional expertise and rigorous standards, strictly ensuring all ship safety protocols and quality requirements were met. Every phase of the conversion was meticulously validated to comply with regulatory specifications and international conventions.

In the future, CCS will continue to deepen the research on technical standards of Fishery Aquaculture Ship, promote the standardized development of the industry, and provide a solid technical guarantee for the construction of "maritime granary".
