On March 5, the lead ship of 84.5k multi-purpose wood-pulp carrier “CSPC HORIZON”, constructed by Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. for CITIC Financial Leasing Co., Ltd. and surveyed by China Classification Society (CCS), was delivered. Lin Jianfeng, General Manager of CCS Fuzhou Branch, was invited to attend the delivery ceremony.

This series of wood-pulp carriers, 225m Total length, 36m Molded breadth, 21m Moulded depth, with a scantling draught of 14.5m and a service speed of 15.5 knots, is currently the largest tonnage and most specialized multi-purpose wood-pulp carrier in the world. The cargo hold of the ship adopts a box-type structure design, and is equipped with a Watertight folding hatch covers and a rotary dehumidifier, and the deck carries 4 Deck-mounted cranes, accommodating diverse cargo types such as general cargo, containers, and outsize cargo, with outstanding economy. In terms of green and energy-saving technologies, the ship is equipped with high-pressure selective catalytic reduction system (SCR), exhaust gas cleaning system (EGCS), and pre-propeller energy-saving appendages, and it has also obtained Class notations such as CCS Methanol fuel ready M FR (P, m) and Onboard carbon capture system ready OCCS Ready 1, etc., laying a technical foundation for subsequent low-carbon transformation.

During the project construction process, CCS Fuzhou Branch has continuously strengthened technical breakthroughs and customer services in a “strict, authentic, meticulous, practical, and fast” manner by relying on the systematic support of the headquarters’ large project team. It has facilitated the project delivery 148 days ahead of schedule through the “shipowner---shipyard---design institute---classification society” four-party technical cooperation network, technical problem data sorting, experience transmission of previous ship optimization, key node three-side joint “double confirmation”, etc.!

The successful delivery of the first ship of the 84.5k multi-purpose wood-pulp carriers is not only a practical demonstration of CCS Fuzhou Branch’s commitment to the purpose of “safety, environmental protection, and creating value for customers and society”, but also a vivid demonstration of the CCS Fuzhou Branch’s cohesion, strong working style for efficiency improvement, and exploration of project management innovation. In the future, CCS will further focus on customer service and survey quality, and provide services to ensure the construction of a strong maritime state and an international first-class China Classification Society.
