The Rules for Materials and Welding are the basic rules on materials and welding within CCS rules system, which specify properties of steels, aluminum alloys, other non-ferrous metals and non-metals used in ships, offshore installations, boilers and pressure vessels etc., and provide technical requirements on welding. The rules are intended to control the safety and quality of ships to an appropriate level and have received wide recognition by the industry.

 The Rules for Materials and Welding (2025) incorporate the 2025 Amendments to the Rules for Materials and Welding,2025 RCN No.1 related thereto ,on the basis of the 2023 version of the Rules for Materials and Welding.

 Upon entry into force, the Rules for Materials and Welding (2025) supersede the Rules for Materials and Welding (2024).
