Risk Assessment Service

Background of the service:

Since the formal commencement of the risk assessment service in 2015, CCS has undertaken more than 30 risk assessment projects, including international joint projects, national projects, ministerial projects and enterprise entrusted projects. Orientated by the market demand at home and abroad, CCS gas developed numerous service products in the field of risk assessment, extended the business scope from traditional risk assessment services for water vessels to offshore & onshore oil and gas industries, and accordingly, built a professional risk assessment team covering the whole industry.

Product introduction:

1. Quantitative risk assessment (QRA)

CCS has developed quantitative risk assessment (QRA) service products by introducing FLACS, one of the most advanced international 3D CFD software, as well as EFFECTS and RISKCURVES, 2D risk assessment software of TNO for calculating disaster consequences and risks. Relying on those service products, CCS will provide customers with practical solutions to assist customers in implementing risk management and establishing plans for the safety of personnel and property.

QRA service products involve the following technical service capabilities:

● Hazard source identification;

● Cause and probability analysis;

● ccident scenario analysis;

● Consequence and damage analysis;

● Escape, evacuation and rescue analysis;

● Assignment of individual risk contour and social risk F-N curves;

● Provision of suggestions for improving and optimizing risk mitigation measures.

2. Fire and explosion analysis (FEA)

For FEA, CCS has developed service products combining CFD with FEM structural calculation, expecting to accurately assess the impact on the structure after an accident, raise improvement suggestions, and minimize the accident consequences.

It provides the following service capabilities:

● Assignment of fire heat radiation affected area;

● Analysis of the influence of thermal radiation on structure;

● Explosion overpressure distribution;

● Damage degree analysis of structure caused by explosion overpressure:

● Suggestions on optimization of structure and layout.

3. Smoke plume diffusion analysis

It is to simulate the layout of smoke exhaust duct on offshore platform, to determine smoke plume and temperature rise distributions and their influence on helicopter take-off/landing and main equipment on the upper part, and to put forward suggestions on optimization measures of smoke duct layout.

Applicable users:

Ship design organizations, shipyards, ship owners, ship management companies, offshore and onshore oil and gas owners, etc.

Customer benefits:

● Let customers fully understand the risks and possible consequences of the operation of existing facilities, and help management and operation organizations control risks better;

● Optimize the system process and layout to keep the risk value within an acceptable criterion in the design stage;

● Reduce/avoid the huge renovation costs caused by subsequent rectification.

Product function:

● Conduct a comprehensive risk assessment on the target facilities and issue an assessment report. Assessment contents may include QRA, FEA, smoke plume diffusion analysis, etc.

Service flow:

Service status:

Currently, the service has developed significantly at home and abroad, especially for large offshore oil and gas facilities, which need such service at basic and detailed design stages. CCS has undertaken and completed more than 30 such projects by now.
