Unmanned Cargo Ship Development Alliance Launched in Shanghai, CCS Led Reform of Shipping Industry

On June 28th, the inaugural meeting of Unmanned Cargo Ship Development Alliance and its 1st Council were held in Shanghai. Leaders and industry experts from HNA Technology & Logistics Group, CCS, ABS, China Ship Development and Design Center, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd., 708 Research Institute of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), Rolls-Royce, 711 Research Institute of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC) and W?rtsil? China attended the meeting and witnessed the signing ceremony of the alliance charter. The Council of the Alliance adopted the relevant proposals for the work plan in 2017. As the first domestic cooperation organization in the field of unmanned cargo ship, the establishment of the Alliance unveiled the change of China's marine unmanned cargo transport.

The Alliance was driven by HNA Technology & Logistics Group and China Classification Society (CCS), co-founded with five units at home and abroad, with a number of the world's leading institutions joining in it. The Alliance will play the advantages of all members and integrate the advanced technology at home and abroad to develop unmanned cargo ships with independent navigational capacity and make market promotion so as to promote the development of intelligent shipping.

The Alliance will not only promote changes in the ship design and operation, but also facilitate the establishment of technology, regulation and standard system involved in unmanned cargo ships. Combinning the accumulation of rules and standards as well as the field of intelligent ships, CCS will further promote the development and innovation of intelligent technology in the industry through the unmanned ship development. CCS Vice President Mr. Sun Feng stated that CCS had initiated the relevant standard research work and would actively promote the revision of the regulations. CCS is willing to work with the industry to carry out unmanned cargo ship and related technology research, contributing to intelligence promotion of China’s major equipment.
