On the 1st of December 2022, the annual meeting of the China Classification Society (CCS) Singapore Technical Committee was held in Singapore.

On the 1st of December 2022, the annual meeting of the China Classification Society (CCS) Singapore Technical Committee was held in Singapore. 51 representatives from Singapore shipping companies, government, ship management companies, Singapore Shipowners Association, ship design companies and other institutions attended the meeting, Mr. Fan Qiang, vice president of CCS, joined the meeting and delivered a speech online.

 

Mr. Fan Qiang pointed out in his speech that Singapore is one of the international maritime and shipping centres which has gathered a horde of shipping companies and shipping agencies, the goals of CCS are to provide quality services to these enterprises and to contribute to Singapore's shipping industry. CCS’s business has grown steadily in recent years, and has made significant technological progress in shipping decarbonization, new energy, intelligence, digitalization, etc. Mr. Fan Qiang thanks to the long-term supports given by the committees, he avowed that CCS will continue to adhere to its mission and to create growth opportunities and values for the customers in Singapore.

 

 

 

At the meeting, Mr. Capt. Mishra from EPS shipping company and Mr. Chean AunAun, minister of the shipping from Singapore MPA, made reports on "Maritime Energy Transition" and "SRS ships performance" respectively. From CCS, Mr. Jiang Botao, general manager of the Singapore branch, conducted a talk on "2022 CCS Annual Review", and Ms. Bai Ting, senior surveyor of the Overseas Technology Centre, delivered a speech on "Decarbonization in Shipping".

 

During the seminar, CCS Singapore branch invited representatives of SDTR, EPS, IMC, Stellar and other shipping companies to share their opinions on decarbonization development and challenges facing energy market, choices of clean energy, training of seafarers, ect for the shipping industry. Each representatives expressed their thoughts to show supports in emission reduction and development of application in new energy, and proclaimed their upcoming actions to meet shipping’s decarbonization goals.

 

At the mean time, they hope that CCS can further leverage its technological and location advantages to help them to overcome the challenges, also expect CCS to take bigger part in research & development  and promotion of new technologies.

 

 

 

Convening of this meeting enhanced Singaporean customers’ recognition and supports to CCS. In the future, CCS will work with crossed-industries, continuously improve its sustainable development capabilities, give full play to its technological advantages, and inject new impetus into the high-quality development of shipping.
