On the 1st of December 2022, the annual meeting of the China Classification Society (CCS) Hong Kong & Macau Regional Committee was held in Hong Kong. This annual meeting was organized by CCS Hong Kong branch, and the theme of the meeting is "Current Status and Development of Global Shipping".

 The guests, committee members and representatives of government agencies, ship owners, ship management agencies, ship (financial) leasing companies, financial investment companies, shipbuilding companies, law firms, and industry associations from Hong Kong and Macao regions carried out in-depth exchange on sustainable development and long-term strategies for "Choices of Green Fuels" and "Application of digitalization".

Mr. Zhu Jianhui, Chairman of CCS Hong Kong and Macau Regional Committee and Chairman of COSCO SHIPPING (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd. presided over the meeting and delivered an opening speech. He appreciated the supports and assistances that CCS provides to the work of the committee units, outlined their joint efforts in helping the maritime shipping industry to adapt changes in the global economy and trade environment with experience, wisdom and innovative spirit. He wished that, all committee members can take this opportunity to give advice and suggestions for optimize the CCS services to the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions, at the same time, will also improve development of the maritime and shipping industries in some Southeast Asian and South Asian regions.

Mr. Feng Boming, the deputy general manager of China Merchants Group, was invited to the meeting as a guest. In his speech, he affirmed that as a communication platform, the CCS Hong Kong & Macau Regional Committee plays an important part in promoting the development of cooperation between industries for win-win situation; towards the goals of decarbonization in shipping, he advocated the industry work together to improve the development of digitalization and application of green technology with their own advantages, and therefore to upgrade the more efficient, more clean and more intelligent levels in shipping industry.

Mr. Wang Shifa, the deputy director of Marine Department from Government of Hong Kong, with the other guests, committee members and representatives also shared their opinions on the theme topic of the meeting, and hoped that, CCS will be continue to play a leading role in technology development and provide comprehensive support and assistance to shipping industry.

At the meeting, Mr. Tian Dongming, the general manager of CCS Hong Kong Branch, delivered a “China Classification Society 2022 Development Report”; and the survey manager, Mr. Zhong Chenkang made a special technical report on "Key Technologies and Application Prospects of Methanol Fuel Powered Ships". The meeting also held a ceremony to issue letters of appointment to newly appointed members of the Hong Kong and Macau Regional Committee.
