“TIGER LONGKOU”, a 700 TEU deck cargo ship for LNG tank containers that was built and surveyed by China Classification Society (CCS) Jiangsu Branch, fulfilled its trial voyage successfully on December 15th.
The ship has a total length of 192.00m, molded breadth 37.60m, molded depth 13.50m, and design draft 8.20m. It is equipped with the LNG-plus-MGO dual-fuel main engine. Compared with conventional LNG transportation modes, whole-ship LNG tank container transportation is more flexible, opening up a new development direction for LNG transportation. Such transportation mode can also fulfill mass transportation of LNG, providing more flexible service for medium and small enterprise users.
“TIGER LONGKOU” was ordered by Tiger Gas, built by Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding Co. Ltd., and classified only by CCS. The series includes four ships in total, and they are the largest dual-fuel deck cargo ships for LNG tank containers in the world. “TIGER LONGKOU” is the first of the series.
During the trial voyage, the marine surveyors of the Jiangyin Office of CCS Jiangsu Branch provided technical support for the whole process, answered questions and dispelled doubts for shipowners and shipyards, also assisted them in solving many technical difficulties. During the LNG containment system test for the ship, the marine surveyors carried out careful survey of the control and security system for the Ship’s Fuel Gas Supply System (FGSS), and conducted separate tests for necessary valve pump action logic, which ensured the safe, reliable operation of the ship in the LNG mode.

“TIGER LONGKOU” is also the first dual-fuel ship for LNG tank containers that has been built by the New Yangzi Shipbuilding. The successful trial voyage of the first ship indicates that the New Yangzi Shipbuilding has opened up a new era of building dual-fuel ships.
During the building of this series of ships, CCS Jiangsu Branch cooperated closely with both the shipowner and the shipyard, and made every effort to fulfill customer service, support and safeguard, so as to meet customer service needs in all aspects. It also helped all parties keep up with the shipbuilding pace of the shipyard, and fulfilled the trial voyage 3 months ahead of the schedule in the prerequisite of ensuring good shipbuilding quality. In the follow-up shipbuilding, CCS Jiangsu Branch will keep the good partnership with both the shipowner and the shipyard to ensure smooth ship delivery.
