On May 8, the 27.6m-long FRP ultra-low temperature tuna longline leading ship (10 voyages in total) was started to build at Zhoushan Aoxin Yacht Manufacturing Co., Ltd. It is the first FRP ocean-going fishing vessel under the flag of Kiribati, built in China and classified by China Classification Society (CCS).
The ship has a total length of 27.68 m, moulded breadth 5.80 m, moulded depth 2.20 m and design drought 1.80 m, and is scheduled to deliver at the end of this year. To complete the construction inspection with high quality, the Zhoushan Office, Zhejiang Branch of CCS has made a lot of preparations in the early stage, including a comprehensive assessment on the construction technology and production capacity of the shipyard through multiple site surveys, assistance to the shipyard in improving production conditions. Zhoushan Office also arranged for careful sorting and feedback to existing specifications, conducted good communication with the flag state, arranged for several senior FRP ship surveyors to discuss and study the project, and made a plan for pilot application of new technologies for cloud inspection of FRP ship construction, so as to provide excellent technical and inspection services and help offshore fishery companies achieve innovative development.
