China Classification Society (CCS) has officially launched the document electronization system for classed ships and fully realized the digitization of survey documents, so as to provide better services for customers, further improve the efficiency of survey services and the level of information-based service, and accelerate the construction of "digital CCS".
CCS started the issuance of electronic certificates for ships on April 20, 2018 according to the Guidelines for the Use of Electronic Certificates (FAL.5/Circ.39/Rev.2) of the Facilitation Committee (FAL), International Maritime Organization (IMO) for reducing the administrative burden on stakeholders caused by the reliance on paper certificates, promoting ship-to-ship and ship-to-shore information exchange, and optimizing related procedures. CCS has issued electronic certificates to all Chinese-flagged ships engaged in international voyages and over 300 foreign-flagged ships over the past two years. With the feature of easy transmission and easy verification, the electronic certificate for ships has won praises from stakeholders.
Based on the experience on applying electronic certificates, CCS has digitalized all survey reports and records issued. Customers can obtain electronic survey documents immediately by E-mail, by the CCS APP "My Fleet" through scanning QR code, or by the customer service system on the official website of CCS.
