With the announcement of Philippines ratification of MLC, 2006 by ILO on August, 20, 2012, Philippines has become the 30th Member to ratify MLC, 2006 and the conditions of the Convention coming into force have been met, i.e. at least 30 Member States with a total share of at least 33 per cent of the world gross tonnage of ships, which means that the MLC, 2006 will come into effect as binding international law on August 20, 2013.
