On 14th May, the ¡°2012 Seatrade Award¡± ceremony was held at London City Hall, where CCS received the honorable award of the Global Performer-Maritime. As the guest of honor, CCS President Mr. Sun Licheng presented the safety award to the US Coast Guard for which the award was proposed by IMO to commemorate the ¡°Titanic 100 years¡±.
Before announcing CCS to be the winner of the Global Performer--Maritime award, Mr. Chris Hayman, Chairman of Seatrade Group explained to the audience why CCS should be awarded. He said that CCS is undeniably the fastest developing classification society in recent years, and is significantly increasing and enhancing its influence in the industry. In 2011, CCS recorded an excellent PSC performance with zero class-related detention in the three major PSC MOUs, i.e. TOKYO MOU, PARIS MOU and USCG, which is unprecedented in the class sector. CCS has fully launched the Green Ship Initiative, which has contributed to the healthy and fast development of green shipping and shipbuilding. Lastly, seizing the opportunities arising from structural adjustment in the global shipping and shipbuilding industries as well as from China¡¯s economic transformation, CCS has promoted a number of new service products, explored new business areas, and joined hands with the industry to brace for the challenges and pull through the downturn.
In the evening, around 350 special guests invited from all over the world attended and witnessed the wonderful event and many of them extended their warm congratulations to CCS.
Established in 1989, the Seatrade Awards is one of the most respected and recognised global maritime award schemes. The prestigious scheme rewards those who have demonstrated innovative solutions for safe, efficient and environmentally friendly shipping.
