CCS Panama Office Formally Opened

CCS Panama Office was formally inaugurated in Panama on Dec.15, 2009. Mr. Bao E Chief Representative of China-Panama Trade Development Office, Mr. Roberto Linares, Administrator of Panama Maritime Authority (PMA), Panama Canal Authority and nearly 100 guests from different concerned businesses attended the opening ceremony.

In recent years, with the fast development of Chinese shipping and shipbuilding industries, CCS has recorded a significant growth in her classed fleet size, business areas, technical service competence, international service network and human resources buildup, and has become one of the strongly influential classification societies in the international maritime community, keeping one of the best performers in the global PSC inspections among IACS member societies. Up to the end of November, CCS classed fleet stood at 2256 ships and totaled 33.81 million gross tonnage (GT). In addition, with authorization from Chinese government, CCS conducts statutory survey for about 9400 domestic ships totaling 15 million gross tonnage (GT). By the end of this year, the overall fleet of ships surveyed by CCS will surpass 50 million gross (GT).
