On the afternoon of 10 October, CCS Council Meeting 2008 was convened in Beijing, attended by a total of 17 council members or delegates from the government, maritime administrations as well as shipping, shipbuilding and offshore engineering sectors. Mr. Xu Zuyuan, Chinese Vice Minister of Transport and Honorary Chairman of CCS, and Ms. Wang Fengqing, Chairman of China Certification and Accreditation Association delivered a speech at the meeting.

The Council Meeting was presided by Mr. Li Kejun, CCS Chairman & President, who presented to the delegates CCS achievements in the past year, CCS future work plan, as well as current international maritime situation. On the meeting, the far-reaching impact of global financial crisis upon the shipbuilding and shipping industries, avoidance of risk confronting the enterprise and introduction of high-level talents into the enterprise were among the hot topics discussed by the council members and delegates.
